New York to Require Door-to-Door, Telemarketing Sales to be Third-Party Verified
The New York PSC will require door-to-door and telephone sales of energy services to include independent third-party verification of those sales, the PSC said in a press release yesterday.
The directive comes in the PSC's proceeding reviewing the retail market. A final written order was not immediately available.

A PSC news release said that the Commission further strengthened the rules and procedures applicable to ESCO marketing and consumer enrollment by, among other things, "Requiring that ESCOs conducting door-to-door and telephone marketing of energy services to conduct independent third-party verification of those sales, and to use a specific introductory statement identifying the company representative."
The news release suggested that this requirement will apply to residential and small commercial customers, but absent a final order, we do not aver to its applicability.
