Champion Energy Offering $50 Rebate for Customers Purchasing Smart Thermostat
Champion Energy is offering Texas residential customers electing a 24-month fixed rate a $50 rebate if they also purchase a smart thermostat.
The offer also includes a free AC tune-up.

ADVERTISEMENT Customers electing Champion Energy's Champ Saver-24 Free AC Tune-Up plan who purchase an eligible smart thermostat will receive a $50 Visa prepaid card from Champion within 6 weeks of receiving proof of purchase of the thermostat.
Eligible smart thermostats include:
• Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat
• Honeywell 7 Day Programmable Wi-Fi Enabled Thermostat
• Nest Learning Thermostat - 2nd Generation T200577
• ecobee EB-STAT-02 Smart Thermostat 4 Heat-2 Cool with Full Color Touch Screen
Based on amazon.com pricing, the thermostats retail from $90 to $230.
At CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, Champion Energy's Champ Saver-24 Free AC Tune-Up plan is a 24-month fixed rate with an all-in average rate of 12.3¢/kWh (based on 1,000 kWh usage). This reflects a flat energy charge of 7.6¢/kWh, a TDU volumetric charge of 3.8563¢/kWh and a TDU monthly fee of $8.52. A base charge of $6.95 applies in billing cycles where usage is less than 800 kWh.
At Oncor, Champion Energy's Champ Saver-24 Free AC Tune-Up plan is a 24-month fixed rate with an all-in average rate of 11.2¢/kWh (based on 1,000 kWh usage). This reflects a flat energy charge of 7.4¢/kWh, a TDU volumetric charge of 3.2230¢/kWh and a TDU monthly fee of $5.25. A base charge of $6.95 applies in billing cycles where usage is less than 800 kWh.
The product includes a $250 early termination fee.
A free AC tune-up is available to customers who live in a single-family home and have not received a free Coolsaver tune-up in the last 5 years.
The plan is also offered at AEP Texas Central, AEP Texas North, and Texas-New Mexico Power.
