Sharyland Reports Number of Customers To Be Assigned to Default REP at Start of Choice

Sharyland Utilities LP has reported the number of customers who had not made an affirmative REP selection by April 13, and will be assigned to a default retail electric provider as the Sharyland Utilities territory transitions to retail choice on May 1.

Specifically, about 22,000 ESI IDs will be assigned to a default REP, or about 45% of active ESI IDs.

The chart below shows the number of ESI IDs selecting a REP versus those not selecting a REP by customer class:

Sharyland noted that 54,584 ESI IDs were created in the ERCOT systems, but some of those are not currently active, so it only expects to process Move-In transactions on 49,206 ESI IDs.

The default REPs at Sharyland Utilities are:

Ambit Energy LP
Champion Energy Services, LLC
Gexa Energy, LP 
Green Mountain Energy Company
MidAmerican Energy Company (non-residential only)
Reliant Energy Retail Services, LLC
TXU Energy Retail Company, LLC

Sharyland has begun randomly assigning customers who did not choose a REP by April 13 to one of the seven Default REPs. Sharyland is using 12 months of customers' historical usage and basing the assignments on the Default REP's load-ratio share previously provided by Commission Staff. For accounts with no historical usage in the 12 month period, Sharyland will randomly assign those accounts based on the number of ESI IDs according to the Default REPs load-ratio share.
