Retail Supplier Withdrawing From Market, Returning Customers to Default Service
Blue Pilot Energy, LLC has informed the Connecticut PURA that it is exiting the state's retail electric market, and will be transferring customers back to default service.
Blue Pilot said that it is sending Connecticut customers a notice informing them that if they wish to avoid being dropped to default service, they need to choose another retail supplier. Blue Pilot intends to send the notice letters at least 30 days prior to the date on which any customers who do not select an electric supplier would be returned to default service.
Blue Pilot informed PURA that as of April 18, it was serving 29 customers at Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) and 12 customers at United Illuminating.
According to the utilities' March 31, 2014 migration report, Blue Pilot was serving 48 customers at CL&P, and 19 customers at UI; it is unclear if the difference reflects a difference in accounting metric (customers versus meters), or attrition since March 31.
Blue Pilot did not respond to a request for comment from EnergyChoiceMatters.com inquiring as to whether it was exiting any other retail markets. EnergyChoiceMatters.com notes without implication that Blue Pilot's website states "Service not available in this area" for many zip codes served by Blue Pilot.
