Commonwealth Edison saw a decline in the number of residential customers on competitive electric supply during the month of April, according to the latest stats on PlugIn Illinois.

The loss of residential customers on competitive supply is expected to accelerate as several municipal aggregations return customers to the utility.

As of April 30, ComEd had 2.390 million residential customers on competitive supply, versus 2.417 million as of March 31, 2014, a decline of about 27,000.

All three Ameren rate zones saw a decline in residential shopping during April as well.

The decline in residential customers on competitive supply from March 31 to April 30 was 855 at Ameren Rate Zone I, 536 at Ameren Rate Zone II, and 2,194 at Ameren Rate Zone III.

The number of residential customers on competitive supply at Ameren as of April 30, 2014 is:

Rate Zone I: 188,953

Rate Zone II: 145,429

Rate Zone III: 353,827
