Reliant Offering Flat Bill Plan, Including Recurring TDU Charges
Reliant is offering residential customers in Texas the opportunity to contract for a flat monthly cost for electricity for 12 months.
Reliant's Predictable 12 plan establishes a custom monthly cost for each customer, which includes energy and recurring TDU charges.
The customer's bill will reflect this flat charge, plus taxes and any other non-recurring charges
Reliant said that it uses a proprietary model to determine the monthly flat cost, which develops a specific price for each home address utilizing a number of factors, including historical usage data at the home and usage patterns in the surrounding area.
While similar products are offered by a few suppliers in other markets, aside from being the first we've seen widely promoted in Texas, Reliant's is notable in allowing the customer to get a real-time custom quote for the flat monthly cost for their service address.
In the Oncor service area, we have seen custom quotes for the flat monthly charge under Reliant's Predictable 12 plan from $170 to $290, and there are likely quotes below and above such amounts for certain addresses.
In the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service area, we have seen custom quotes for the flat monthly charge under Reliant's Predictable 12 plan from $180 to $290, and there are likely quotes below and above such amounts for certain addresses.
In the quotes we've seen, the Reliant Predictable 12 plan includes an early termination fee equal to one month's flat charge.
