State Seeks Data (Including Prices) from All Retail Suppliers on Customers Subject to Roll-over to Variable Rates
The Connecticut PURA issued interrogatories to all retail electric suppliers regarding the number of customers who were transitioned from a fixed rate to variable rate, and the pricing such customers received.
Among other things, suppliers were directed to provide the total number of CL&P residential customers and total number of UI residential customers whose fixed price term expired at any time between October 1, 2013 and June 15, 2014. For these customers, suppliers were directed to provide, among other things, the:
• initial fixed price;
• term (length) of the initial fixed price;
• the date the initial fixed price ended;
• rate plan the customer was assigned to (e.g., variable, fixed) after fixed price term ended;
• price the customer was charged after the initial fixed price ended;
• copy of the notice sent to the customer regarding the expiration of their initial fixed price term, or state if notification was not provided;
• date and method the notification was sent to the customer;
Suppliers were also directed to provide a copy of all standard notices, letters, emails, texts, or other correspondence the company sent to its customers relating to the requirements of Conn. Gen. Stat. §16-245o(f), and for each, describe the situation when it was issued and the method of delivery (U.S. mail, email, etc.).
