Texas Commissioners Agree on Approach to Address Reliability Standard
The Public Utility Commission of Texas has agreed on an approach to examine the reliability standard in the ERCOT market.
Commissioners agreed on Staff's Option #2, which directs ERCOT to conduct a new Loss of Load Study, calculating required reserve margins for several alternative reliability standards.
A non-exhaustive list of possible reliability criteria to be examined includes a) Expected Unserved Energy (EUE), b) duration-specific, and c) economically-optimal standards.
With the Commission deciding on what approach to take, Staff will now develop a workplan for the examination.
