Texas REP Acquires Customers of Two Competitors

Reporting by Paul Ring • ring@energychoicematters.com

Texas retail electric provider American Light & Power has acquired some or all of the customers of 10K Energy (d/b/a Mission Power) and likely also some or all of the customers of True Electric.

Though Mission Power and True Electric were separately certificated companies, they had been operating under the same "umbrella" (with nearly identical websites and pricing) for several years.

EnergyChoiceMatters.com on Wednesday reached out to the individual listed as CEO of True Electric in the PUCT directory, via a phone message left with an administrative contact and also a direct email, but has not received a response. (Matters is not naming such individuals because it is not clear if they still serve in such position, and we do not wish to aver to a position in which they no longer serve).

EnergyChoiceMatters.com also reached out to the individual listed as the "authorized rep" on the PUCT directory for both True Electric and Mission Power (who is the same individual, though the companies hold unique REP certificates), and did speak with him, but he declined to comment on any matter.

EnergyChoiceMatters.com further reached out to American Light & Power yesterday, via a phone message with a CSR that we asked be forwarded to an appropriate press contact as well as direct emails to the individuals on the PUCT directory listed as the company's President (also serving as "authorized rep"), Secretary, and Operations Manager, and did not receive a response as of 8am ET this morning.

This is what we do know, however.

The toll-free numbers on the True Electric and Mission Power websites (when they were online), 877-577-TRUE and 877-717-MISSION, respectively, are both now answered by American Light & Power.

The True Electric and Mission Power websites have been offline for at least the last 48 hours.

Prior to this, True Electric and Mission Power had "buried" the residential pricing page on their websites starting on or about late June, if not earlier (the residential pricing page was still accessible, but was no longer clickable from the main homepage).

True Electric and Mission Power had both formerly publicized offers on Power to Choose, but ceased listing offers on the Power to Choose site on or about early April (with both companies ceasing the listings at the same time)

EnergyChoiceMatters.com has seen at least one public online comment from early June from a customer who represented themselves as formerly being with Mission Power, and representing that they were recently transferred to American Light & Power. Matters could not find similar verification from a True Electric customer
