ComEd Territory Loses Another 30,000 (Net) Shoppers During May

The Commonwealth Edison territory saw the number of residential electric accounts on competitive supply decrease by over 30,000 accounts from the end of April to the end of May, according to updated stats on PlugIn Illinois.

Specifically, from April 30, 2014 to May 31, 2014, ComEd saw the total number of residential customers on competitive supply decrease by 33,500, from 2.390 million to 2.357 million.

This follows the month of April, during which residential shopping decreased by a net of 27,000 accounts.

All three Ameren rate zones saw a decline in residential shopping during May as well.

The decline in residential customers on competitive supply from April 30 to May 31 was 3,700 at Ameren Rate Zone I, 5,000 at Ameren Rate Zone II, and 7,900 at Ameren Rate Zone III.

The number of residential customers on competitive supply at Ameren as of May 31, 2014 is:

Rate Zone I: 185,251

Rate Zone II: 140,439

Rate Zone III: 345,911
