IGS Energy Acquires Retail Supplier
IGS Energy announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Border Energy, a retail supplier of natural gas and electricity headquartered in Powell, Ohio. The transaction for the gas business became effective on August 31, 2014 and the power business will be effective as of September 30, 2014 upon approval by FERC.
The acquisition will add approximately 70,000 customers (in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio) to IGS Energy's customer base of over one million across the country. IGS Energy will honor all of Border's existing contracts
"We have a very strong, positive brand reputation in the industry, which is extremely important to us," stated Scott White, president and CEO of IGS Energy. "Border Energy also has a solid, positive brand presence, which was a key element in our decision to acquire the company."
"Our growth is a testament to that fact that consumers want a choice in who supplies their energy," stated White. "It has afforded us new opportunities to expand, and through this acquisition, we are increasing our customer base in existing markets and enhancing our scale to better service residential, commercial, and industrial customers across the Midwest."
