Connecticut Waives Sought Penalty Against Retail Supplier Regarding Gross Receipts Report
The Connecticut PURA has waived a $5,000 penalty originally sought against Xoom Energy Connecticut, LLC after PURA initially alleged that Xoom failed to submit a report on intrastate gross receipts.
"XOOM provided evidence showing that it submitted its Report to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on August 20, 2014. In the Letter, XOOM explained that its failure to timely submit the Report was due to the departure from the company of the person responsible for submitting the Report. XOOM also stated that it has a history of fully cooperating and timely submitting its regulatory filings as well as any information requested by PURA," PURA said.
"Given the scope of the apparent violation, and XOOM's demonstrated good faith effort to achieve compliance, the Authority will waive the proposed civil penalty for XOOM's failure to submit its Connecticut intrastate gross revenues for the year 2013. The Authority cautions XOOM to ensure timely compliance with all of its Connecticut regulatory obligations going forward. As the apparent violation has been cured, and the proposed civil penalty waived, the Authority will not hold a hearing in this proceeding and hereby deems this matter closed," PURA said.
