Texas Staff Provide Status Report on Future Ownership of Smart Meter Texas Portal

Staff of the Public Utility Commission of Texas have filed a status report regarding future ownership of the advanced metering system portal Smart Meter Texas

Staff reported that:

"Transferring all or part of SMT's functions to ERCOT would appear to have a number of benefits. A transfer would also involve a number of issues and could be a significant undertaking. As a result, staff plans to further discuss a transfer with ERCOT and, as needed, other stakeholders to develop a preliminary identification of the high level issues and options that would be associated with a transfer. Staff will report back to the Commission by the end of the first quarter of 2015."
