PUC Accepts $59,000 Settlement With Retail Supplier
After receiving more information regarding the impact on customers from the alleged violations, the Pennsylvania PUC accepted without modification a settlement between its Staff and ResCom Energy LLC under which ResCom will pay $59,000 to resolve an investigation into alleged slamming, Do Not Call violations, and other marketing violations.

The settlement addresses three alleged instances in which a customer was switched without authorization. In response to questions from the PUC regarding customer impact from the alleged unauthorized switching, in two such instances, the customer was returned to their original service before taking service from ResCom, and in the third instance, the customer paid less with ResCom than under default service.
The settlement also addressed alleged "Do Not Call" violations, the number of which was not quantifiable. ResCom said that the "Do Not Call" violations arose from the actions of a third-party agent, whose services ResCom terminated after learning of the behavior.
ResCom has taken various remedial actions regarding customer authorization and Do Not Call compliance as a result of the settlement.
