Reporting by Karen Abbott • kabbott@energychoicematters.com

Energy Rewards, the retail supplier NRG Energy uses for its affinity partnership to offer service to Comcast subscribers in western Pennsylvania, has ceased accepting new customers.

"[A]t this time, we've mutually agreed to no longer market Energy Rewards to existing Comcast customers. This was a pilot program," NRG told EnergyChoiceMatters.com

The Energy Rewards website says, "Due to upcoming changes, we are no longer accepting new enrollments."

The pilot had been launched in early 2014, and had been expanded to include electricity and natural gas service at Duquesne Light, West Penn Power, Penelec, People Natural Gas, and Columbia Gas (in some utilities territories, service was limited to certain counties)
