Maine Directs Development of Portal to Allow Retail Suppliers to Access Customer Data

The Maine PUC has directed Central Maine Power to proceed with development and implementation of a system that will allow customers to elect to make their interval usage data available to competitive electricity providers, and directed that a workgroup facilitate such development

Emera Maine (BHE) was also directed to participate in the working group, as the group will also be charged with developing further aspects of sharing customer usage data with customers and suppliers.

The working group shall also review CMP's and BHE's current and proposed business practices regarding the availability and provision of customer usage information to customers and suppliers (e.g., length of availability of reports for suppliers, format of usage files, real-time data) and report to the Commission whether changes to these practices should occur, as well as the recommendations regarding the timing for any such changes.
