PSC Fines Retail Supplier $5,000
The Maryland PSC fined U.S. Gas & Electric, Inc. and subsidiary Energy Services Providers, Inc. (collectively d/b/a Maryland Gas & Electric) $5,000 for operating in several service areas prior to being specifically licensed to serve customers in those territories.
The PSC fined Maryland Gas & Electric $2,500 for operating in the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, Inc. service area prior to being licensed to serve electric customers in that territory, and $2,500 for operating in the Washington Gas Light service area prior to being licensed to serve natural gas customers in that territory
The PSC also granted Maryland Gas & Electric an expanded electric supplier license to serve all customer classes at SMECO and Choptank Electric Cooperative, Inc., and granted Maryland Gas & Electric an expanded natural gas supplier license to include service to all customer classes at Chesapeake Utilities, Inc., Pivotal Holdings, Inc. d/b/a Elkton Gas, and Washington Gas Light.
USG&E provided the following statement to EnergyChoiceMatters.com:
"U.S. Gas & Electric, Inc. and Energy Services Providers, Inc. have worked closely with the Maryland Public Service Commission on these matters. We are pleased that we could resolve these matters and look forward to continued focus on providing services to our customers."
