NRG Residential to Mail Residential Customers Concerning Rebranding as NRG Home

Reliant Energy Northeast LLC will mail its Connecticut customers a brochure describing the company's rebranding as NRG Home.

In a letter to PURA following a technical session on the company's branding, Reliant Energy Northeast LLC said that going forward, will use two trade names in Connecticut, one for residential customers (NRG Home) and one for business customers (NRG Business). Reliant Energy Northeast LLC will eliminate references to the other trade names it previously used in customer-facing materials and regulatory documents (such as NRG Residential Solutions).

The brochure notes that the NRG Home brand also offers a wide variety of products and home solutions to fit your energy needs, depending on the customer's location, such as:

• Home Solar

• Portable Power Options

• Electric Vehicle Charging

Reliant Energy Northeast LLC told PURA that it has contacted the Connecticut distribution companies and is working with the companies to display the NRG Home or NRG Business trade name on the consolidated bill, based on customer class. "We request the Authority’s support in this endeavor," Reliant Energy Northeast LLC said.

Reliant Energy Northeast also suggested that, for the convenience of Connecticut electric customers, PURA consider disclosing on the Energize CT Rate Board when a company is not actively marketing nor accepting new enrollments. "The current practice of de-listing retail suppliers who do not have generally available offers can leave customers searching the EnergizeCT website without success for information about their provider," Reliant Energy Northeast said.
