TrailStone Acquires Stake in Retail Supplier
TrailStone NA Asset Holdings LLC, a member of the TrailStone Group of companies, has entered into a Membership Interest Purchase Agreement pursuant to which it has acquired a strategic equity interest in MP2 Energy LLC.
MP2 Energy offers a suite of services related to power generation and supply, including serving retail customers in Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Ohio. As recently reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, MP2's retail power book now has a peak load of over 850 MW.
"TrailStone and MP2 will co-brand their energy management services to provide clients with a complete, integrated commodity service. For TrailStone, the transaction provides a trusted platform for marketing and executing its wholesale energy trading and energy investment business," TrailStone said.
"The investment provides an opportunity for TrailStone to execute an important component of its wholesale energy trading, fuel supply and energy management business. With the closing of this transaction, MP2 and TrailStone plan to focus on strategic opportunities that extend each company's strengths and which create further value propositions for their respective customers," TrailStone said.

"The balance sheet, trading experience and intellectual capital that TrailStone brings, coupled with the trusted MP2 name and reputation for delivering value, will allow us to provide services that were not possible before this deal."
For MP2, the partnership facilitates an expansion into larger-scale commodity business lines
MP2 provides retail energy services, third-party power plant management, and demand response with continued focus on and expansion into renewable (wind and solar) integrations.
Formed in April 2013, TrailStone is a group of separate companies, each staffed by energy and finance professionals with experience in mining, oil and gas investment and finance, energy asset management, energy logistics and trading.
