ERCOT peak demand decreased by 1.2% in 2014 versus 2013, ERCOT reported yesterday.

At 66,454 megawatts (MW), peak demand was down by about 1.2 percent from 2013 and lower than the all-time record of 68,305 MW set on Aug. 3, 2011

Electric usage increased by 2.5 percent in 2014 compared to 2013.

Energy use over the course of the year in the ERCOT region increased from 331,624,102 megawatt-hours (MWh) in 2013 to 340,033,353 MWh in 2014, due mainly to increases seen during the extremely cold winter months early in the year.
