Illinois Opens Review of Access to Smart Meter Data By Non-Supplier Third Parties
The Illinois Commerce Commission has officially opened an investigation of the need for, and form of, customer authorization required for access by third parties, other than retail electric suppliers (RES), to advanced metering infrastructure interval meter data.
The investigation follows a petition by the Citizens Utility Board last summer.
The ICC will review:
1. The need for a standard customer authorization form required for access to AMI interval meter data by third parties other than RESs.
2. The minimum requirements for a customer authorization form.
3. The need for Commission approval of a customer authorization form.
