Pa. PUC "Lays Down the Law" To Retail Suppliers, Emphasizes Peer Review

The Pennsylvania PUC recently met with retail energy suppliers to, "lay down the law", in the wake of the polar vortex, and to emphasize the need for peer review in the industry to weed-out bad actors.

Speaking before the Pennsylvania House Consumer Affairs committee, PUC Chairman Robert Powelson said, "The five of us [PUC Commissioners] met with the Retail Energy Supply Association to really lay down the law with these entities."

While the PUC has its rules for the market, "like practicing good medicine, there has to be peer review," in the retail supplier community, Powelson said

"I think RESA, to their credit, has done that," Powelson said, though Powelson did note that there were some suppliers who were "out there" and against which the PUC is currently adjudicating proceedings.
