New York Staff Favor PSC Review Of LIPA Retail Choice Versus Proposed "Collaborative"
Staff of the New York PSC does not agree with PSEG Long Island's proposal to institute a "collaborative" on electric retail choice at the Long Island Power Authority, stating that the issue be more "formally and comprehensively" addressed under a PSC review.
As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, PSEG-LI had proposed the collaborative in a three-year rate plan filing.
In response, PSC Staff filed comments stating:
"The Companies propose that the issue of Energy Service Companies should be excluded from the proceeding and addressed instead in a collaborative. Staff does not agree. In view of the importance of the issue and the need for more comprehensive analysis of the issues presented by retail access on Long Island, Staff proposes that the issue be removed from the rate case and rather than being addressed as a collaborative, the issue be more formally and comprehensively addressed as the subject of a separate Department review dedicated exclusively to the issue. The proposal by the Companies to eliminate the tariff provision on Single Bill Option should be considered in that review as well."
