NRG Home (Reliant) Seeks Natural Gas Supplier License In New States
Reliant Energy Northeast, d/b/a NRG Home and NRG Retail Solutions, applied for an Illinois alternative natural gas supplier license.
Reliant Energy Northeast said in its application that it intends to offer natural gas service to all eligible residential and small commercial customers at Nicor, Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas, and Ameren.
Reliant Energy Northeast said that it has natural gas supplier license applications pending in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
To date, NRG's Reliant arm has not emphasized mass market natural gas sales. NRG inherited retail natural gas books in several states (such as Ohio, New York, and New Jersey) when it acquired Energy Plus, and also had launched an organic natural gas sales effort as part of its trial with Comcast, under Independence Energy .
