New Texas REP Offering Free Weekends Product, Other TOU Rate

Champion Energy Services is the latest Texas retail provider to offer residential customers Time of Use electricity plans including a free weekends product.

Champion Energy's Free Time 12 plan includes a 0¢/kWh energy charge on the weekends, and a fixed energy charge for all other hours, plus a volumetric TDU charge applicable during all hours and a flat monthly TDU charge.

In the Oncor service area, Champion Energy's Free Time 12 plan includes an average all-in rate of 9.7¢/kWh (at 1,000 kWh usage), which is calculated based on a monthly usage assumption of 80% during weekdays, and 20% during weekends. This reflects a fixed (for 12 months) weekday energy charge of 7.3¢/kWh, a weekend energy charge of 0¢/kWh, and TDU charges of 3.3344¢/kWh and $5.25 per month.

The Free Time 12 plan includes a $150 early termination fee

Champion Energy's Night Owl 24 plan is a two-tier Time of Use plan with one fixed energy charge applicable from 10pm to 6am, and another fixed energy charge applicable during all other hours, plus a volumetric TDU charge applicable during all hours and a flat monthly TDU charge

In the Oncor service area, Champion Energy's Night Owl 24 plan includes an average all-in rate of 9.5¢/kWh (at 1,000 kWh usage), which is calculated based on a monthly usage assumption of 70% during days, and 30% during nights. This reflects a fixed energy charge of 6.1¢/kWh from 6am to 10pm, a fixed energy charge of 4.6¢/kWh from 10pm to 6am, and TDU charges of 3.3344¢/kWh and $5.25 per month. The energy charges are fixed for 24 months

The Night Owl 24 plan includes a $250 early termination fee
