Towns Press DPU For Decision on Muni Aggregation Plans
Several cities and towns have requested that the Massachusetts DPU render a final decision on their municipal electric aggregation plans which have been pending since March 2014.
The City of Northampton, and Towns of Cummington, Upton, and Pelham filed substantially similar letters asking the DPU to render an order on their plans.
"Other communities with approved municipal aggregation plans have been able to respond to high prices and the current volatile energy market," the municipalities noted in separate but similar letters.
"We understand that time is short for any order to come out that would enable our Town to effectively enter the market for the coming summer season. Quite frankly, all Town energy-related planning is dependent upon your findings," the similar letters said.
The municipalities noted that the evidentiary hearings on their plans occurred in November 2014, with briefs filed in December 2014.
