Texas Senate Passes Bill Ending RPS Obligation for Retail Electric Providers
The Texas Senate has passed S.B. No. 931, which terminated the goal for renewable energy, required to be met by retail electric providers, after December 31, 2015.
A REC trading program will remain for REPs to verify their voluntary renewable electric plans.
The bill also prevents the PUC from designating any new competitive renewable energy zones.
The bill passed on a 21-10 vote.
