Sharyland Utilities "Looking" At Feasibility of Filing Earlier Rate Case
During a discussion of recent customer complaints concerning high bills, Sharyland Utilities, LP reported during Friday's Public Utility Commission of Texas open meeting that it was "looking" at the feasibility of filing a base rate case earlier than July 1, 2016.
Under a prior stipulation, Sharyland Utilities is required to file a rate case by July 1, 2016. That stipulation further requires use of a 2015 test year. It would also require system-wide rates for all of Sharyland's service areas (Sharyland Utilities/Cap Rock and Sharyland McAllen)
During the open meeting, Sharyland said that it was "looking" at whether it could file the case earlier, with one of the obstacles being the requirement to use 2015 test year data. Sharyland was specifically evaluating whether it could advance the filing of its rate case to May 1, 2016.
The Commissioners decided to add to its newly opened review of the Sharyland complaints the issue of whether a rate case should be filed earlier, and the pros and cons of accelerating the filing.
