Exclusive: Comcast Relaunches Energy Rewards Electric, Gas Offers in Philadelphia, Chicago, Other Areas With Crius Energy

The new Energy Rewards, now supplied by Crius Energy, has launched service in several Pennsylvania and Illinois service areas.

As exclusively reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Comcast late last year ceased offering energy through its partnership with NRG Energy, and later entered a new partnership with Crius Energy's Everyday Energy subsidiary, which has taken on the Energy Rewards brand.

Energy Rewards is currently offering residential electric service at PECO, PPL, Met-Ed, Penelec, West Penn Power, and Penn Power in Pennsylvania, and Commonwealth Edison and Ameren in Illinois. Energy Rewards' listing of utility price indices on its website also lists Duquesne Light, though the site does not currently provide an offer for the Duquesne Light territory.

Energy Rewards is currently offering residential natural gas at Nicor in Illinois.

Service is only offered to customers of Comcast TV, Voice or Home services.

Energy Rewards is offering residential customers two 24-month products:

• SafeSwitch Fixed: A 24-month fixed rate, with a $100 rebate if the fixed rate isn't lower than the Utility Price Index over the plan term. An early termination fee of $100 applies

• SafeSwitch Flex: A 6-month fixed rate, with a capped monthly variable rate for the remaining 18 months

As with its prior energy offers, Energy Rewards offers customers 3 free months of HBO, Showtime, or Cinemax for enrolling, plus other perks, such as free movie tickets

Energy Rewards' residential pricing is as follows (amounts in ¢/kWh unless otherwise noted):

SafeSwitch Fixed: 9.49¢

SafeSwitch Flex: 8.23¢, rate will not increase more than 1.46¢

PPL

SafeSwitch Fixed: 10.79¢

SafeSwitch Flex: 9.08¢, rate will not increase more than 1.91¢

Met-Ed

SafeSwitch Fixed: 9.48¢

SafeSwitch Flex: 7.51¢, rate will not increase more than 2.17¢

Penelec

SafeSwitch Fixed: 8.30¢

SafeSwitch Flex: 6.57¢, rate will not increase more than 1.93¢

West Penn Power

SafeSwitch Fixed: 6.36¢

SafeSwitch Flex: 5.04¢, rate will not increase more than 1.52¢

Penn Power

SafeSwitch Fixed: 6.96¢

SafeSwitch Flex: 5.51¢, rate will not increase more than 1.65¢

ComEd

SafeSwitch Fixed: 7.99¢

SafeSwitch Flex: 7.19¢, rate will not increase more than 1.00¢
