Retail Supplier Would Make $2,000 Charitable Contribution Under Settlement With Regulator
Verde Energy USA, Inc. would make a $2,000 charitable contribution to Operation Fuel, Inc. to fully resolve a Connecticut PURA Notice of Violation which had alleged that Verde was not in complete compliance with the requirements for quarterly rate notices sent to customers.
As previously reported, PURA had alleged that Verde's quarterly notices did not include two pieces of information which PURA says is required. First, PURA alleged that Verde did not include the following language, "Under your current service plan with Verde you paid $___ for the generation portion of that bill". PURA additionally alleged Verde did not include a table comparing its generation rate and cost to the utility's default service rate and cost
The settlement fully resolves these allegations, with no formal finding of any violation.
The settlement shall not constitute an admission of liability by Verde and shall not be used by PURA or any other person or entity in any litigation or proceeding for that purpose.
Verde Energy provided the following statement to ECM:
"Verde Energy has worked in good faith with PURA to review our quarterly notice mailings and we are pleased to be able to make a $2,000 charitable donation to Operation Fuel"
