Former DEP Staffer Nominated To Pennsylvania PUC As Cawley Replacement

Governor Tom Wolf nominated Andrew Place, corporate director for energy and environmental policy at EQT Corporation, to serve as commissioner on the Public Utility Commission. Place will succeed James Cawley. Prior to joining EQT in 2011, Place served for eighteen months in Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection, first as special assistant for energy and "climate change" and second as acting deputy secretary of the Office of Energy and Technology Deployment. Place previously served as a research fellow at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Engineering and Public Policy with a primary focus on Carbon Capture and Sequestration

Another Extension Granted in Ohio Retail Market Improvement Report

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has granted Staff an extension until June 17 to file a retail electric market improvement report. In its retail market investigation order, PUCO had directed Staff with facilitating a discussion within the Market Development Working Group (MDWG) to develop an operational plan that implements either a statewide seamless move, contract portability, instant connect, or a warm transfer process. The Commission at that time noted that the operational plan should account for the Commission's preference for permitting shopping customers to maintain their status as shopping customers
