Texas Staff Recommend Reduction in New CenterPoint TDU Fee To Be Charged to Retail Providers

Staff of the Public Utility Commission of Texas have recommended that CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric's requested revenue requirement for a new Distribution Cost Recovery Factor be revised downward by about $7 million, resulting in a lower charge applicable to REPs under the fee.

The DCRF would be a new rider charged to retail electric providers for certain distribution costs not reflected in base rates.

CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric originally filed to implement the following DCRF charges applicable to REPs:

Residential Service            $0.000309 per kWh
Secondary Service ≤ 10 kVA     $0.000410 per kWh
Secondary Service > 10 kVA     $0.051512 per Billing kVA
Primary Service                $0.022684 per Billing kVA
Transmission Service           $0.001012 per 4CP kVA
Lighting Services              $0.004337 per kWh

Based on adjustments to CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric's revenue requirement under the DCRF recommended by Staff in testimony, Staff proposes the following DCRF charges applicable to REPs:

Residential Service            $0.000177 per kWh
Secondary Service ≤ 10 kVA     $0.000235 per kWh
Secondary Service > 10 kVA     $0.029440 per Billing kVA
Primary Service                $0.012965 per Billing kVA
Transmission Service           $0.000578 per 4CP kVA
Lighting Services              $0.002478 per kWh
