The Connecticut PURA has opened a review of the Connecticut Clean Energy Options Program to determine whether the program should be extended beyond December 31, 2016 (Docket No. 10-05-07RE01).

The Connecticut Clean Energy Options Program is a program that allows customers to purchase RECs as an add-on to their service without switching their supplier. According to the program's webpage, it is available to customers both on default service and competitive supply.

Currently, the Connecticut Clean Energy Options Program offers service from two selected REC providers: Northeast Clean Power (3Degrees) or Community Energy.

For residential customers, both REC providers offer options to offset 50% and 100% of the customer's usage.

About 25,000 customers participate in the Connecticut Clean Energy Options Program or its legacy program.
