Pennsylvania saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply decrease by over 10,000 accounts on a statewide basis from late April to late May, according to the latest data on PA Power Switch

This compares to a net decline of 7,500 residential shoppers from late March to late April.

In May, among the seven large EDCs, only PECO and Met-Ed saw a new increase in residential shopping. PPL, which had shown residential shopping growth in April, saw a return to declining residential shopping levels in May.

Although rate changes did not occur until June 1, the PUC had been alerting to customers in May of significant default service rate increases in several territories.

Specifically, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each utility from late April to late May was:

Duquesne Light (923)
Met-Ed 324
PECO 311
Penelec (3,682)
Penn Power (2,990)
PPL (124)
West Penn Power (3,444)
