Texas TDUs Report Updated Data on Customers Opting Out of Smart Meters
Several Texas TDUs have filed updated reports regarding customers electing to take non-standard metering service, and opting out of AMS.
As of June 30, 2015, Oncor had 192 customers taking non-standard metering service. At Oncor, this includes 92 customers who have replaced a smart meter with an analog meter, and 80 customers who kept their prior non-AMS meter.
As of July 6, CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric reported that it had 75 ESIDs that have opted to have non-standard meter service. CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric noted that no change to the opt-out fees is required at this time.
As of July 7, 2015, AEP Texas Central had 95 customers who have chosen non-standard metering service and AEP Texas North had 28 customers who have chosen non-standard metering service.
