Though Pennsylvania recorded a second consecutive month of growth in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply, the August growth was slower than the July growth, and, unlike July, three large EDCs saw a decline in residential shopping during August

Statewide, Pennsylvania residential shopping increased by nearly 4,000 accounts from late July 2015 to late August 2015, versus the growth of 7,000 accounts from late June 2015 to late July 2015.

Furthermore, during August, Duquesne Light, Met-Ed, and Penn Power all saw declines in residential shopping; during July, only Duquesne Light had seen a decline.

Still, the August growth stands in contrast to the monthly declines of 10,000 to 15,000 residential shoppers seen in the spring.

The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each utility from late July to late August was:

Duquesne Light (1,153)
Met-Ed (411)
PECO 1,651
Penelec 562
Penn Power (19)
PPL 2,201
West Penn Power 1,253

For comparison, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each utility from late June to late July was:

Duquesne Light (1,889)
Met-Ed 517
PECO 1,525
Penelec 435
Penn Power 628
PPL 2,797
West Penn Power 2,904
