Staff of the Public Utility Commission of Texas have filed recommended fees to be allocated to retail electric providers and other companies to cover the cost of broadcasting PUCT meetings online.
PURA provides that a retail electric provider that serves more than 250,000 customers shall be subject to such an assessment.
Staff recommends the following fees be assigned to subject REPs:
Ambit Texas $5,627
Direct Energy $3,896
Green Mountain Energy $4,567
Just Energy $3,327
Reliant Energy $19,770
Stream Energy $4,203
TXU Energy $22,210
This would be the first year that Just Energy has been subject to the broadcast fee assessment since its creation in 2010, indicating that it has now crossed the 250,000 customer threshold.
Also of note, Staff recommends the following assessments to generators:
NRG Energy $19,361
NextEra Energy Resources $8,561
The assessment applies to a power generation company that owns more than 5,000 megawatts of installed capacity in Texas.
