Texas PUC Approves 20% Increase in ERCOT System Admin Fee
The Public Utility Commission of Texas approved a nearly 20% increase in the ERCOT system administration fee
The new fee of $0.5550 per megawatt-hour will be charged starting on January 1, 2016.
The current system admin fee is $0.4650 per megawatt-hour
ERCOT has stated that it intends to maintain the new fee for four years.

While noting that the new fee has been justified by ERCOT, Commissioner Kenneth Anderson urged ERCOT to manage its budget requests such that it avoids "double digit" percentage fee increases, which must be managed by market participants, in the future by updating IT infrastructure (a major driver of the change) on a more regular cycle that would provide for smaller but more frequent changes in the fee.
