Texas REP Now Offering 54 Hours of Free Power, "Most in Texas"

Direct Energy is set to offer Texas residential customers a product which provides 54 hours of free power, under its Live Brighter Weekends plan.

Direct Energy's webpage for the plan states, "enjoy free energy for 54 hours--the most in Texas." While 54 hours may be the most continuous free hours and most on a weekend, certain other plans offer more total hours per week (such as 63 hours per week under TXU's free nights plan)

Previously, Direct has offered a Free Saturdays plan in Texas. The new product extends the free power hours from 24 to 54, with free power applicable from 6pm Friday to 12am Monday.

In the Oncor service area, the product is available as a 12-month indexed plan, with an average all-in rate at 1,000 kWh of 9.5¢/kWh. This reflects an energy charge of 9.2¢/kWh during non-free hours and 0¢/kWh during free hours, a base charge of $4.95 per month, and Oncor delivery charges of $5.25 per month and 3.482¢/kWh. All delivery charges will be prorated and the customer will not be billed for any TDU delivery charges during the designated free period. Average price calculations are based on a total consumption profile over a 12 month period assuming 32.1% of consumption occurs during the designated free period.

In the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service area, the product is available as a 12-month indexed plan, with an average all-in rate at 1,000 kWh of 10.2¢/kWh. This reflects an energy charge of 9.8¢/kWh during non-free hours and 0¢/kWh during free hours, a base charge of $4.95 per month, and CenterPoint delivery charges of $5.47 per month and 3.949¢/kWh. All delivery charges will be prorated and the customer will not be billed for any TDU delivery charges during the designated free period.

In the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service area, the product is also available as a 24-month indexed plan, with an average all-in rate at 1,000 kWh of 10.5¢/kWh. This reflects an energy charge of 10.3¢/kWh during non-free hours and 0¢/kWh during free hours, a base charge of $4.95 per month, and CenterPoint delivery charges of $5.47 per month and 3.949¢/kWh. All delivery charges will be prorated and the customer will not be billed for any TDU delivery charges during the designated free period.

In the AEP Texas Central service area, the product is also available as a 12-month indexed plan, with an average all-in rate at 1,000 kWh of 10.8¢/kWh. This reflects an energy charge of 10.1¢/kWh during non-free hours and 0¢/kWh during free hours, a base charge of $4.95 per month, and TCC delivery charges of $9.00 per month and 4.191¢/kWh. All delivery charges will be prorated and the customer will not be billed for any TDU delivery charges during the designated free period.

In the AEP Texas North service area, the product is also available as a 12-month indexed plan, with an average all-in rate at 1,000 kWh of 9.9¢/kWh. This reflects an energy charge of 9.4¢/kWh during non-free hours and 0¢/kWh during free hours, a base charge of $4.95 per month, and TNC delivery charges of $10.53 per month and 3.401¢/kWh. All delivery charges will be prorated and the customer will not be billed for any TDU delivery charges during the designated free period.

An early termination fee of $135 applies to both the 12 and 24 month products
