Bare Minimum: New York Muni Aggregation To Provide 20-Day Opt-Out Period

Sustainable Westchester, New York's only authorized municipal aggregation to date, will provide customers in member communities with a 20-day opt-out period prior to the initiation of aggregation service.

This is the bare minimum opt-out period required by the PSC.

Specifically, the PSC said earlier this year that the opt-out period under SW's municipal aggregation pilot shall be "at least" 20 days, with an exactly 20-day period not expressly prescribed.

The PSC ordered a minimum of 20 days for the opt-out period after deeming SW's originally proposed 10-day opt-out period, "inadequate."

While the opt-out period is only 20 days, SW states on its website that customers will still have the ability to opt out at any time with no penalties whatsoever.
