Texas PUC Orders Sharyland To File Rate Case By April 30, Case Will Develop System-Wide Rates for Cap Rock, McAllen Divisions

The Public Utility Commission of Texas yesterday at its open meeting ordered Sharyland Utilities, LP to file a rate case before April 30, 2016

Such a rate case shall develop system-wide rates for all of Sharyland's service areas (Sharyland Utilities/Cap Rock and Sharyland McAllen)

With an April 30, 2016 filing deadline, Commissioners said that new distribution rates should be adopted before the winter of 2016-17. Furthermore, the April 30, 2016 filing deadline still allows the use of a test year ending December 31, 2015 so that rates reflect updated load data.

Recent customer complaints regarding Sharyland distribution rates have largely been attributed to rate allocation decisions in a prior rate case; a new rate case allows for further consideration of cost allocation issues.
