Choose Energy is beta testing an "All-in Bill" calculator under which a customer can input their last month's bill total into the tool, and from that, Choose Energy will then be able to estimate what the supply portion, as well as the total electricity bill, would be with each of the retail plans listed on its site

An example of the beta version of the All-in Bill calculator, for the regulated Florida Power & Light service area, can be found here

Choose Energy discussed the beta version of the "All-in Bill" tool in comments to the Massachusetts DPU concerning the DPU's electric shopping website

In such comments, Choose Energy said, "we would also encourage the DPU to help consumers better understand the supply versus Transmission & Distribution costs on their energy bill. During our tenure working with local Massachusetts customers, Choose Energy learned that local MA residents were confused about the difference in the terms and values of supply versus T&D. More specifically, some residents were unsure how the supply rates quoted by suppliers would change their overall monthly bill. The confusion stemmed from a lack of understanding of how supply fit into the bill."

"Choose Energy therefore has pioneered a tool to help local consumers, in every market, better understand their bill visually," the company said, in citing the All-In Bill tool

Choose Energy told the DPU that the All-In Bill tool can be used in a variety of ways, including:

• Calculating the total bill, as well as breaking the bill down into its various components (supply, delivery, taxes & fees), based on a user's monthly kWh consumption

• Calculating a user's monthly (and annual) kWh consumption from a monthly bill total, where the total is what the consumer sees at the bottom of his or her bill (i.e. a combination of supply, T&D, as well as taxes and other fees)
