Global Commodities Merchant Establishes New U.S. Retail Supplier (Acquisitions Possible)
Freepoint Commodities LLC has established a new retail electric supplier, American Edison LLC, which has sought a Maine retail electric supplier license
American Edison LLC, which sought Maine licensure as a competitive electricity provider and not as a Standard Offer Provider (the latter category is for entities only supplying default service customers via the utilities' competitive solicitations), applied to serve all customer classes at Central Maine Power, Bangor-Hydro Electric, and Maine Public Service
In its application, American Edison said that it, "plans to grow its retail customer base and to expand the footprint of its service areas in the coming months, including, potentially, through the acquisition of one or more existing retail supply businesses."
Freepoint, headquartered in Stamford, CT, was formed in early 2011 by the former principals of Sempra Energy Trading
