N.Y. Utility Proposes To Nearly Triple Its Consolidated Billing Charge
KeySpan New York and KeySpan Long Island have filed rate cases with the New York PSC in which the utilities, which are units of National Grid, propose significant increases in the consolidated billing charge.
Currently, at KeySpan Long Island, the consolidated billing charge is $0.65. If KeySpan Long Island issues a bill for a sales customer, the customer is charged $0.65 for each bill generated. If KeySpan Long Island issues a consolidated bill on behalf of an ESCO, KeySpan Long Island charges the ESCO a fee of $0.65 for each bill generated and the customer avoids the fee of $0.65 per bill.
Based on an updated cost of service study, KeySpan Long Island is proposing to update the consolidated billing charge from $0.65 to $1.76
At KeySpan New York (Brooklyn Union Gas), the current consolidated billing charge is $0.76.
Based on an updated cost of service study, KeySpan New York is proposing to update the consolidated billing charge from $0.76 to $1.42.
