On March 21, 2016, CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric will introduce a web-based automated Historical Usage / LOA request function on its Competitive Retailer Information Portal (CRIP).

The new functionality will be available to REPs, Aggregators, and other parties who currently request historical usage data using the manual Letter of Authorization (LOA) process.

"We believe that the new system will simplify the process for parties requesting usage data, and will allow us to fulfill LOA usage requests much faster than the current manual process," CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric said in a market notice

Initially, the automated Historical Usage / LOA function will only be available for non-IDR usage history requests. Requests for IDR usage will continue to be fulfilled through the current manual process. Also, neither the manual LOA process nor the automated process will provide AMS interval usage data. AMS interval data may be obtained from Smart Meter Texas.

Market Participants who are not REPs (Aggregators, Brokers, Consultants, etc.) must be set up in the CRIP before using the Historical Usage / LOA function.

The manual LOA process will remain in place after March 21, and should continue to be utilized for IDR accounts.
