Reporting by Paul Ring • ring@energychoicematters.com

Zip Energy, a brand of AP Gas & Electric created to serve the prepay market, has ceased enrolling new customers, and will be transitioning existing customers to APG&E postpaid service

APG&E relaunched the Zip Energy brand in early 2015 in an effort to gain customer insights and evaluate product fit within APG&E's portfolio of products and services. "Although customer feedback was positive, we came to the conclusion that pre-paid services had fewer synergies with our core business than anticipated. This was the primary driver of our decision to focus resources on exceeding customer expectations and build customer value through enhanced products and services across our core business," APG&E told EnergyChoiceMatters.com

"As a result, APG&E has made a decision to discontinue accepting new pre-paid enrollments. To make the transition for our pre-paid customer as simple as possible, we will be contacting and working diligently to transition them to an APG&E post-paid product or help them find another pre-paid provider that meets their needs. This transition will occur during the second quarter of 2016," APG&E told EnergyChoiceMatters.com
