Texas Staff Updates Status Of REP Low-Income Smart Energy Device Reimbursement Funds
Staff of the Public Utility Commission of Texas filed an update regarding the status of funds designated to reimburse retail electric providers for providing free programmable communicating thermostats (PCTs) and in-home displays (IHDs) to low-income customers
Staff reported that through February 29, 2016, for the 14-month invoicing period January 1, 2015 through February 29, 2016, 18,573 PCTs were installed and 8,948 IHDs were deployed by 17 REPs, resulting in 51 % of the total funds for the program having been spent ($9,529,038 out of a total of $18,625,000).
As previously reported, since the close of the Staff reporting period, CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric (CEHE) reported that it expects it will have soon exhausted 75% of funds designated under the program once the invoices received in May 2016 for devices deployed in April 2016 are paid.
