Staff of the Texas PUC have proposed to adjust the discount under the low-income discount program (Lite-Up Texas) to 25%, effective August 1

The discount had recently been adjusted to be 27% for July.

The new 25% discount would be applied to the POLR rates to determine the discount. The current POLR rates are approximately $0.1412/kWh, and a 25% discount factor will result in a discount of about $0.0353/kWh.

Retail Electric Providers (REPs) would be required to begin providing the updated discounts on customers' bills starting on August 1, 2016 through August 31, 2016 bills.
