Power Generation Developer Launching New Texas Retail Provider
A subsidiary of Apex Clean Energy, Inc., a developer of utility-scale wind and solar projects, has applied for a Texas retail electric provider certificate
Specifically, ACE Power, LLC (d/b/a REP ACE Power, LLC) applied for an Option 2 REP certificate to serve customers 1 MW or larger who provide an affidavit agreeing to such service
The non-confidential portion of ACE Power, LLC's application identifies one of the customers providing such affidavit as the Defense Logistics Agency of the United States Department of Defense
Earlier this year, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Energy, in coordination with the U.S. Army Office of Energy Initiatives (OEI) and Fort Hood, signed a renewable energy supply agreement with Apex Clean Energy for 65.8 MW of electricity from a combination of large-scale renewable energy solar and wind facilities to serve Fort Hood in Texas, supplemented with electricity from conventional resources
DLA Energy has said that Apex’s contract will feature 50.4 MW of wind energy from the Cotton Plains Wind energy facility in Floyd County, Texas, and 15.4 MWac solar from an on-site facility at Fort Hood.
The contract includes a potential value of $497.3 million, and extends approximately 30 years for the renewable-related components, and 10 years for the supplemental conventional power component (with an option for another 18 years)
