Reporting by Paul Ring • ring@energychoicematters.com

The New Hampshire PUC approved an extension of the Alternate Default Energy Service Rate (Rate ADE) tariff at Public Service of New Hampshire (Eversource) in its present form for a period of: either 12 months from July 1, 2016, or if divestiture of PSNH's plants is ordered, until such time as PSNH has transitioned to a competitive solicitation for its default service needs

Rate ADE is available (but not mandatory) to customers who take delivery service from PSNH under Primary General Service Rate GV, Large General Service Rate LG, or Backup Service Rate B (the rate classes for PSNH's largest customers) and who are returning to PSNH supply service after taking service from one or more competitive suppliers.

Rate ADE allows large customers to return to PSNH for supply without triggering a 12-month minimum stay. If large customers return to PSNH's standard default service (Rate DE), a 12-month minimum stay applies

Rate ADE is set monthly, based on the marginal costs of serving the load requirement, plus a fixed adder to recover a portion of the fixed costs of PSNH's generation. This methodology will continue unchanged.
